Should youth sports prioritize fun over competition?
Youth sports have become a breeding ground for burnout, and I think we need to rethink the whole competitive model. My daughter quit soccer at 14 after six years of year-round training, and she wasn't alone—half her team left before high school. The pressure to specialize early and win at all costs is driving kids away from activities that should build lifelong habits. Should we prioritize fun and participation over trophies, even if it means fewer elite athletes come out of the system?
