Would universal basic income harm the labor market and economy?
Universal basic income sounds great in theory, but have we actually thought through what it does to the labor market? I work in logistics and see how automation is already replacing jobs, yet businesses still complain about labor shortages. A guaranteed check might make people pickier about accepting low-wage work, which could force wages up—or it could just make everything more expensive. I'm genuinely torn because I've seen both arguments backed by decent data, but I lean toward thinking it's a risk we can't afford to test on a national scale without a solid plan for inflation and productivity.
