Why do most project management tools still bury the simplest workflows under a mountain of menus and permissions? I've tried Asana, Trello, and Monday across three different teams, and each time the admin setup alone took longer than the sprint we were planning — we ended up back in a shared spreadsheet with conditional formatting. Open-source options like OpenProject or Redmine are more configurable but feel stuck in 2010, while commercial ones nickel-and-dime you per user. Are we overcomplicating software because vendors sell complexity, or is there genuinely a sweet spot between flexibility and ease of use that I just haven't found yet?
