Is economic decoupling from the West feasible for China?
When the US imposed sanctions on Russia in 2022, many assumed China would follow suit, but Beijing chose a different path. Now, as the war drags on, I'm wondering if economic decoupling from the West is actually feasible for a country with China's trade dependencies. We've seen select industries like semiconductors suffer, yet overall exports have surged to record levels. Can a major economy truly insulate itself from global financial systems, or is the cost of such isolation higher than the benefits of engagement?
