When I look at how history is taught in schools, I often wonder if we're really learning from the past or just memorizing dates and names. For instance, my own education glossed over the messy parts of colonialism, focusing instead on the achievements of explorers. Yet, every time I visit a museum or read a primary source, I see a different story emerge. So, here's my question: is a society that doesn't truly examine its history doomed to repeat it, or are we already doing enough by teaching selective narratives?
