Is economic gain worth losing some national sovereignty?
When a nation signs a trade deal, it inevitably gives up some sovereignty in exchange for economic gains, and I think that trade-off is usually worth it. Look at how the EU transformed former autocratic states in Southern Europe into stable democracies through economic integration. But there are real cases, like the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, where dispute panels can override domestic labor laws, and that makes me uncomfortable. Should countries ever prioritze sovereignty over the concrete benefits of deeper economic ties?
