What personal finance rule did you break on purpose and not regret?
What's a personal finance rule you broke on purpose and still don't regret? I ask because I paid off my $14,000 car loan at 3.9% in 2021 instead of maxing my Roth IRA, which math says was a mistake—the S&P 500 returned over 26% that year. But waking up with zero car payment let me sleep through a job scare in 2022, and I'd probably do it again. I know the spreadsheets say invest the difference, and I'm not sure my peace of mind was worth $3,000 in lost gains. Curious whether others have a deliberate exception to the usual personal finance advice.
