We keep hearing that animals have emotions and consciousness, yet we still cage them in zoos and slaughter them for food. I grew up on a farm and saw cows form close bonds, so the idea that they don't feel loss seems wrong to me. But if they do feel pain like us, where do we draw the line between using animals for survival and treating them as equals? Can we truly coexist with animals without exploiting them?
