VAR was supposed to bring clarity to football, but after this season's Champions League calls, I'm convinced it's making big games worse. The offside rule is now so pixel-perfect that goals get disallowed for armpits, and yet clear red card incidents still get missed. Replay delays kill the spontaneous joy of celebrating with the fans around you. If we can't eliminate these ridiculous margins and inconsistent reviews, why keep a system that undermines the referee's authority rather than supporting it? Players and coaches are more confused than ever, and I don't see the fairness we were promised. Are we really better off compared to the old days of quick, imperfect decisions?
