Urban sprawl is eating up our farmland and green spaces faster than we can measure it. In the last decade, my city annexed 40 square miles for new subdivisions, most of them half-empty. Stronger growth boundaries and denser infill development would preserve what's left, but local governments keep chasing tax revenue from developers. Is that really the best we can do with our land?
