Those pop-up bike lanes that cities installed during lockdown were supposed to be temporary, but some have become permanent after proving popular. I've lived in downtown Portland where traffic has actually calmed, yet local businesses still complain about losing parking spots. If a bike lane gets heavy usage and reduces car accidents, is there a fair argument to keep it over the parking spaces? Or should cities revert everything back to how it was before?
