Is therapy worth trying even if you're not in crisis?
Therapy has become more accessible in recent years, but I still hesitate to recommend it to friends who seem fine. I went through six sessions last spring for work-related anxiety, and it helped me name my triggers, yet I also know plenty of people who felt it was just expensive venting. So here's my question: is talking to a professional genuinely useful for everyday mental health, or is it only worth it when you're already in a crisis? I lean toward YES because my own experience was positive, but I'm aware that not everyone has the right therapist or the money to keep going. What do you think—does the evidence of better outcomes justify pushing everyone to try it, or are we overselling a service that works mainly for the worried well?
