Can therapy apps truly replace human connection?
Therapy apps promise mental health support at scale, but I wonder if they actually replace the depth of human connection. After using one for three months during a rough patch, I felt the CBT exercises helped structure my thoughts, yet there was no one to catch the emotional nuances between the lines. Can a chatbot truly mirror the therapeutic alliance that research says drives most of the outcome? I lean toward no, but I've seen friends swear by them, so maybe it's a matter of access versus depth.
