Therapists often tell us to 'sit with our feelings,' but is that actually the best approach for everyone? I've been in CBT for a year, and while it helped with panic attacks, I still struggle with overthinking because I'm constantly analyzing my emotions instead of just living. Some research suggests that emotional suppression is linked to worse mental health, yet others argue that distraction and problem-solving are healthier coping mechanisms for certain personalities. I don't think one-size-fits-all, but I'm torn on whether we're overvaluing emotional processing in therapy.
