Does AI hiring reduce or increase bias?
The rise of artificial intelligence in hiring is making the recruitment process more biased, not less. I recently applied to a tech company that used an AI screener, and my resume was rejected within seconds—even though I matched every qualification. The algorithm had been trained on past successful hires, which were mostly white men from elite universities, so it learned to filter out anyone who didn't fit that narrow mold. No amount of tweaking can fix the core problem if the training data already contains centuries of systemic bias. Tech companies should pause AI hiring tools until we can ensure they are actually fair, or we risk automating discrimination at a scale that no human recruiter could achieve.
