Street murals in my neighborhood have transformed forgotten walls into landmarks, and I believe public art should be judged by its role in community building rather than its aesthetic appeal. A mural that sparks conversation or gives local youth a sense of pride is doing more than a technically perfect piece that nobody engages with. But what if we prioritize social impact over artistic merit, and does that risk lowering the bar for what counts as art?
