Street food in Bangkok has gotten noticeably more expensive over the last five years, and I think it's losing its soul to tourist prices. I've been eating at the same stall near Ari for a decade, and a bowl of boat noodles that cost 40 baht in 2019 now runs 70. The vendors say ingredients went up, but I've also watched them shrink portions and swap out fresh herbs for cheaper substitutes. Can we honestly say Thai street food is still as authentic as it used to be, or are we just paying for a memory?
