Should universities weigh standardized tests so heavily?
Standardized tests like the SAT claim to measure college readiness, but after a decade of tutoring high schoolers, I've seen students with perfect scores struggle with basic study habits. The test rewards speed and tricks, not deep understanding, so should universities really weigh it so heavily? A 1500 doesn't mean you'll thrive in a lab course, and many brilliant thinkers are just bad test-takers. Maybe we're ignoring better predictors like consistent grades or passion projects.
