Is solo travel truly self-discovery or just loneliness?
Solo travel is overrated if you're doing it just to 'find yourself' — most people end up feeling lonely and spend more time on their phones than talking to locals. I backpacked alone for three weeks in Southeast Asia and by day five I was desperate for a familiar face. Group tours aren't for everyone, but at least they force you to interact with real people, which solo travel often doesn't.
