Soft skills often decide who gets promoted, but we rarely measure them fairly. In my last company, two managers produced identical sales numbers, yet the one who networked better got the raise. Are we rewarding actual ability or just how well someone performs in meetings? I've seen quiet but competent colleagues passed over simply because they didn't 'play the game' as visibly. That makes me question whether these evaluations are objective at all.
