Can soft skills really be learned, or are they innate traits?
Soft skills are the real career currency, but are they actually teachable? I've spent five years in hiring and watched polished communicators fail under pressure while awkward engineers became team leads. Every training program I see promises emotional intelligence in six weeks, yet most people I work with haven't changed their default behaviors at all. Maybe you're born with empathy or you're not. Can a course really rewire how you react to a screaming client at 6 PM? I'm leaning no, but I've seen one colleague transform after therapy, so I'm not certain. What does your experience say—can soft skills be meaningfully learned, or are they just personality traits we dress up?
