Are soft skills truly teachable in corporate settings?
Soft skills are often called the real differentiator in hiring, but I've seen too many managers confuse being extroverted with having them. We spend weeks training technical stacks yet treat communication, empathy, and adaptability as innate gifts you either have or don't. That's lazy thinking—these are behaviors, and behaviors can be coached, practiced, and measured. If we genuinely valued soft skills, we'd build assessment centers and feedback loops around them, not just nod at buzzwords in job descriptions. So, are soft skills actually teachable in a corporate setting, or are we just polishing personalities?
