Should Young Kids Have Their Own Smartphones?
Should we really let young kids have their own smartphones? I'm seeing more 8-year-olds with unrestricted access to YouTube and games, and parents seem to think it's fine because 'everyone does it.' My neighbor's son is 9 and already has his own device; he threw a tantrum when his mom tried to limit his screen time. We didn't grow up with this, and I wonder if we're failing to set boundaries for the sake of convenience. The research on attention and social skills is concerning, but maybe I'm just being old-fashioned.
