Should kids be paid for good grades?
I've been a parent for eight years, and I'm starting to think that rewarding kids with money for good grades is a huge mistake. My son gets $20 for every A on his report card, and now he asks 'what do I get?' before he even opens a book. Some parents say it teaches financial responsibility, but I see it crushing his natural curiosity and making learning transactional. Shouldn't we just let kids find joy in mastering something new, not in the dollar amount we attach to it?
