So here's my take: society should give elderly people full autonomy over major life choices like where to live and what medical treatments to accept, even if family members or professionals disagree. Of course, I'm not saying we ignore safety or medical advice, but too many seniors end up in assisted living not because they chose it, but because nobody thought to consult them. Shouldn't the person who's lived 80-plus years have the final say about their own life?
