Should elderly drivers pass cognitive and physical tests every 2 years?
Should elderly drivers be required to pass a cognitive and physical test every two years to keep their license? I've seen too many close calls on the road involving seniors who clearly shouldn't be driving, but I also worry about their independence and access to healthcare. My 82-year-old neighbor still drives safely, yet he'd likely fail a reaction-time test designed for younger people. Where do we draw the line between public safety and personal freedom, especially in rural areas with no public transport?
