Does anyone else find online ads creepier now that they follow you across every device, or have we just accepted it? Last week I searched for a bike helmet on my laptop, and by dinner the same ad was sitting in my Instagram feed and on my TV. I get that tracking makes ads "relevant," but I never agreed to my phone knowing what I looked at on a totally different screen. There's a part of me that thinks this is just the cost of free content, and another part that wonders why I feel uneasy explaining it to my kid. Curious whether people here would actually pay a few dollars a month to make cross-device ad targeting illegal, or if that's overkill.
