Budget airlines like Ryanair and EasyJet have transformed European travel, but I think we've crossed a line where low-cost flying is eating away at our environmental future. A single round-trip from London to Barcelona emits about 0.4 tonnes of CO2 per passenger, which is nearly a third of what the average person in India produces in an entire year. Sure, cheap flights make travel accessible, but should we really be subsidizing something that accelerates climate change just so we can have a weekend getaway in the sun? I'm not saying we should ban them outright, but maybe it's time to reconsider the true cost of that £20 ticket.
