Screen time for kids under two is almost universally discouraged, yet many parents I know, myself included, hand over a tablet to get through a grocery store. The American Academy of Pediatrics cites language delays and attention issues as risks, but isolated use with an engaged parent seems different from zoning out alone. My toddler learned animal sounds from a fifteen-minute video, and that positive experience makes me wonder if we've swung too far into fear. Should we really treat all screen time as a failure, or is there a reasonable middle ground that respects both child development and modern parenting realities?
