Rush-hour congestion pricing in city centers is unfair to low-income drivers who have no transit alternatives. I drove into downtown for years before my shift changed, and the $15 fee would've eaten a chunk of my hourly wage just to get to work. Does anyone really believe the added cost pushes people toward buses when those routes barely run at night? On weekends, when I do drive in, the traffic is still awful, which tells me the pricing wouldn't fix the real problem of too many single-occupancy cars. Cars are essential for a lot of us, so taxing them feels like a penalty for living outside the core.
