Does remote therapy really match in-person sessions for building rapport?
Remote therapy has exploded in popularity, but I'm not convinced it matches in-person sessions for building real therapeutic rapport. After two years as a client doing both, the screen barrier makes it easier to disengage, and subtle body language cues get lost in the pixelated feed. Sure, it's convenient for busy schedules and rural access, but are we trading depth for ease in a way that undermines long-term progress?
