Religious groups often claim tax exemptions because they provide community services, but I'm not sure that justifies the billions lost annually in tax revenue. In my city, a mega-church runs a food bank that feeds hundreds, yet it also owns a private jet. Should we really subsidize organizations just because they preach morality? Maybe it's time to reconsider what counts as 'religious purpose' in tax law.
