Should fasting adapt to 18-hour summer days?
Religious fasting laws are often treated as universal rules, but they were written for specific climates and lifestyles. I grew up fasting from dawn to dusk in a temperate region, then moved to a country where summer days stretch to 18 hours. The physical toll is completely different, yet the rule stays the same. Should modern believers adapt fasting schedules to their actual conditions, or is the hardship part of the intended sacrifice?
