Is taxing corporate profits the wrong way to fund green energy?
Raising corporate tax rates to fund green energy subsidies punishes the same businesses we need to invest in that transition. I've watched my company delay a solar retrofit twice because the projected tax burden kept shifting the payback window. A carbon tax with revenue recycling would be more honest, but politicians prefer taxing profits because it's invisible until the job cuts show up. Can anyone explain why we keep choosing a policy that makes domestic firms less competitive while doing nothing to reduce consumption?
