Plastic bag bans have been adopted by over 400 cities worldwide, yet I'm not convinced they address the root of our waste problem. In my own community, I see people buying thicker 'reusable' bags and tossing them after one use, which some studies suggest produces more carbon emissions than the thin plastic ones. Should we really celebrate these policies, or are we just shifting the environmental burden without changing consumer habits?
