Plastic bag bans are often praised as a win for the environment, but they may be doing more harm than good. I've seen cities swap thin plastic for thick reusable bags that people forget to reuse, and the carbon footprint of those tote bags is surprisingly high. A single cotton bag needs to be used thousands of times to offset its production emissions. So, should we focus on better waste management and recycling instead of outright bans?
