Parking minimums in our downtown have stayed the same since 1987, even though transit ridership is up 30% and car ownership among younger residents is dropping. I've watched new developments waste prime land on empty asphalt while rents climb. Should cities abolish parking minimums and let developers decide how much space cars really need?
