Should cities prioritize age-friendly housing over single-family zoning?
Our city just released new census data showing the 65+ population will double by 2040, yet most neighborhood zoning still assumes young families. I've lived here for two decades and watched schools close while senior centers waitlist for years. Should local governments prioritize age-friendly housing and transit over traditional single-family zoning? Or is that just a phase that demographics will shift again, making long-term planning pointless?
