Open-source software has won the developer mindshare, but I think it's losing the everyday user battle. My dad still pays for Microsoft Office because he can't figure out LibreOffice, and my mom uses Google Docs but has no idea what open source means. Even on servers, where Linux dominates, most companies run proprietary management layers on top. So is the open-source movement truly winning if the average person still doesn't benefit directly?
