Is extreme frugality for early retirement worth the sacrifice?
My neighbor retired at 55 by living on 60% of his income for 20 years, but he never traveled or ate out much. That level of frugality seems to require giving up too many small joys that make daily life worth living. Is extreme saving really the best path to financial independence, or does the sacrifice outweigh the benefit of retiring a few years early? I keep going back and forth on this.
