Should we keep obligatory family calls or seek deeper connection?
My mother calls me every Sunday at 7 PM, same time for the past ten years, and I've noticed that these ritual calls have become more about obligation than genuine connection. We talk about the weather, my job, her health—but never about what actually matters. Is maintaining this weekly check-in, even when it feels forced, still better than letting the relationship evolve into something more authentic, even if it means fewer conversations?
