Are fitness trackers doing more harm than good for our health?
My fitness tracker says I walk 8,000 steps a day, yet my doctor still tells me to focus on sleep and stress rather than counting steps. I've read studies linking wearables to more health anxiety, and I've felt that myself when my watch buzzes about an irregular heart rate that turns out to be nothing. We treat these devices as objective truth, but they're just estimates that can mislead us about our actual health. Do we really need a $300 gadget to tell us what our bodies already communicate?
