Should parents teach kids that not everyone will like them?
My 8-year-old daughter came home from school crying because a classmate told her she wasn't invited to a birthday party. We've always taught her to be kind to everyone, but now I'm wondering if that's setting her up for disappointment. Should parents actively teach kids that not everyone will like them and that's okay, or does that just give them permission to be mean?
