Is the digital divide about age or our teaching efforts?
My 78-year-old neighbor just learned to video chat with her grandkids using a tablet I helped her set up, and it got me thinking about how we treat aging in the digital age. We often assume older adults can't or won't adapt to new technology, but that assumption ignores their real curiosity and capacity to learn. I've seen seniors master apps, online banking, and even telehealth when given patient, one-on-one guidance instead of being dismissed. Is the digital divide among older adults really about age, or is it more about our lack of effort to teach them?
