Should We Push Seniors to Adopt New Technology or Let Them Opt Out?
My 78-year-old neighbor just got a tablet and started video-calling her grandkids daily, which made me realize we often underestimate seniors' ability to adopt new technology. But here's the thing: most elderly people I know still struggle with basic smartphone features, and tech companies rarely design interfaces with aging eyes or shaky hands in mind. So, should we push harder to get seniors online, or is it kinder to let them opt out of a digital world that wasn't built for them?
