Museums that charge admission fees are often criticized for being elitist, but I think they're actually doing something right. The Louvre gets millions of visitors a year, and that money keeps the art protected and the lights on. I've visited smaller free museums that were so underfunded they had to close exhibits early. If we want cultural institutions to survive, shouldn't we accept that paying for access is part of the deal?
