Modernist skyscrapers are turning our cities into glass boxes, and I think we've lost something essential in the process. Walking through downtown Chicago last month, I counted 40 towers that look almost identical—straight lines, blue-green glass, zero personality. Traditional architecture gave us landmarks you could navigate by; today's designs feel interchangeable, built for efficiency rather than for people. Shouldn't we demand more from the buildings that define our skyline?
