Minimalist design has become the default for every SaaS dashboard, but I'm starting to wonder if we're stripping away too much personality. I spent three years redesigning a project management tool, and every time I added a quirky visual, the user testing scores dropped because people expected the sterile look. Yet the most-used app on my phone is a messy note-taking app with cluttered buttons. So is minimalist design genuinely better for usability, or are we just following a trend that makes everything look the same? I've seen enough A/B tests to believe simplicity often wins, but I'm not convinced it's the only answer.
