Is the real value of marketing in the story, not the metrics?
Marketing teams obsess over conversion rates, but I've noticed that our best campaigns rarely push for an immediate sale—they build a story that people actually want to share. Last quarter, we tested two versions of the same ad: one with a hard CTA and one with just a narrative. The narrative version got half the clicks but three times the organic reach, and our sales team couldn't trace any direct revenue to it. So, is the real value of marketing in the story we tell, not the metrics we report? I'm leaning toward yes, but I'm curious how others measure brand building versus direct response in a world that demands numbers.
