Is Unconditional Emotional Availability a Virtue or Enabling Codependency?
I've noticed that people who constantly validate others' feelings often end up feeling drained and resentful, yet we're told that empathy is the key to strong relationships. In my own experience, setting boundaries around emotional support has actually made my friendships healthier, but society still frames that as being cold. So, is unconditional emotional availability really a virtue, or are we just enabling codependency?
